Process: Site Audit & Benchmarking

Table of Contents

Task Owner is responsible for running crawls /audits for the current site and putting that information into internal systems so they can be referenced later for goal-setting and to measure performance.

  1. Run Crawl with Screaming Frog
    • Create a summary page of 404 errors, missing or duplicate H1s, no-indexed pages and any other relevant details
    • When saving the files, ensure the date of the crawl is present in the filename
    • Upload the spreadsheet and the crawl file to the client folder in the shared Drive
  2. Audit in SEM Rush
    • Export a copy of all organic keyword positions they have in the Top 100 results
    • Upload the file to the shared drive and ensure the date is in the file name
    • Setup Rankings in Agency Analytics
    • Add the Rank Tracker integration to the client’s campaign in Agency Analytics
    • Click the “Explore Rank Tracker” option in the pop up window
    • Press the purple “Add Keywords” button in the new pop up window.
    • Copy and paste the keywords from the SEM Rush audit into the “Keywords” section on this page
    • Select the locations from which you want to track the rankings from. This will emulate how the site ranks for these keywords when searching from a specific location, so the locations added should correspond to city and county the client is located in (or the geo being targeted for SEO efforts).
  3. Setup Site Auditor in Agency Analytics
    • Add the Site Auditor integration to the client’s campaign in Agency Analytics
    • Ensure that Site Auditor is setup to crawl the site every 2 weeks.

In the corresponding ClickUp task, call out any issues or opportunities discovered so they can be discussed by the team during the Kickoff Call with the client. Please consider the following:

  • Significant technical issues that should be addressed during development
  • Onsite issues that can be addressed via ongoing monthly SEO tasks
  • Notable issues related to organic positions (ex. site only ranks for branded keywords, only ranks for keywords with transactional intent, etc.) Any observations that may provide a thread to follow in the interest of stronger SEO or Content strategy.
